The house

A sandstone homestead, its garden & a long lawn

Built by a farming family in 1887 and restored slowly over the last decade, Ellery House sits on twelve acres at the quiet edge of Sydney’s south-west.

We host one wedding a day, so the house, the gardens and our team are yours from ten in the morning until the last song. Say your vows under the old elms, have drinks among the books, then dinner in the Pavilion as the paddocks go gold.

Questions

Often asked

What if it rains?

We watch the forecast with you during the week. If rain looks likely, we move the ceremony to the Library and Pavilion verandah, which seats 140 under cover. The final call is yours, up to three hours before.

When does the night finish?

Music and the bar finish at 10:30pm and guests leave by 11pm. We have neighbours a few paddocks away and keep a good relationship with them.

Can we bring our own suppliers?

Yes. Bring your own photographer, florist, celebrant, band or stylist. Our kitchen does all catering, and the bar is ours too. We’ll share a list of suppliers who know the house well, if that helps.

Is the venue accessible?

The Garden Lawn, Pavilion and Library are all reachable without steps, on firm paths. There’s an accessible bathroom next to the Pavilion and two accessible parking bays by the front door. The Bridal Suite is upstairs.

How do we hold a date?

Come for a tour first. If the date suits, we hold it for seven days while you decide, then a deposit secures it.

Do you host smaller weddings?

We do, mid-week. The 60-guest minimum applies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; ask us about Monday to Thursday for smaller groups.
